The wedding shower decoration ideas in the next few blog entries are great accents for anyone whose Destination Wedding will be on a tropical island. They can also be adapted and used for a summer get together!
Greet your guests with inexpensive, decorated torches, which can be found at any discount or hardware store. They will not only add a tropical flair to your summer gathering, but the lanterns add a great party mood to your function. If you watch decorating shows on television, you will notice that the final touch designers add to their room design is lighting candles. Like music softly playing in the background, candles are the perfect accent because good design also exists in the details.
My design will decorate your event AND add ambiance to your gathering. Here’s all you need to do to create this look: hot glue tropical, silk greenery and some hibiscus flowers to one side of the torch (well below the wick area, for safety purposes), which now becomes the front display. Insert the decorated torches in the ground, near your front porch or doorway (do not place underneath a covered area as the smoke from the fuel used in these lanterns rises high and will char a front porch overhang) to greet your guests in true tropical style. Or, if your bridal shower or party is being held outside, the photo above shows how you can use them to spruce up garden beds near the pool. Just tuck in some white paper bells to bring your wedding theme into these double-duty decorations.
