FALL, in the foyer
Written by on Friday, September 28th, 2012

This Fall, I’m definitely into pumpkins and the warmth of falling leaves and I think the foyer is the perfect place to display a family-representative pumpkin as well as one that says…

And I wish I could shrink myself down to spend time in this sweet Craft Shop and attend the Scarecrow Festival! 😉

House – Scarecrow Harvest Festival by Dept. 56

Placing decorations on top of risers (like candlesticks and cake plates) gives them more prominence and are easier to dust around during the season.

And if you want to display a wreath in the center of a mirror or artwork and cannot hang it from ribbon, try a heavy duty (clear) suction cup!

This is another design that would also look great over a mantel.

Enjoy the Creativity!

Once again I’m in awe and inspired! Where is the best place to find the candlestick risers? (Looking to keep the cost down and I don’t mind painting them.) Thanks!! -Amy

Thank you Amy! The best places I have found to look for candlesticks is at thrift stores (and yes, I have to paint them, typically); also, on the clearance aisles of pretty much any store. Look at the clearance end caps in Target, Walmart, Home Goods, Jo Anns, Michaels, etc. It seems as though every store ends up with an odd candlestick in all shapes, sizes & widths. Before you know it, you’ll have a collection! Happy hunting. 🙂

Took your advice and stopped in at a Goodwill today. Sure enough, they had the perfect specimen for .99! Can’t wait to find a couple more now. ;0)
Thanks again for the tip (and for the inspiration!!).
