Father’s Day Gift Ideas – 2013
Written by on Sunday, May 19th, 2013

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 16th,

so I thought it would be helpful to post my ideas for a couple of Father’s Day Gifts

a little early to give you extra time to budget & shop.

For the Sentimental Dad

I made this project for my next door neighbors, and their 4 adorable children helped me!

I found this $60 huge, gorgeous frame (last week) at Michael’s Craft store,

in the Clearance Bin for only…. sitting down?… $10.00!!!

While there, I also purchased 2 half-pieces of white poster board, cut them in half again

and painted individual letters on each of the 4 poster halves, spelling out the word L-O-V-E.

I took photos of each of their children holding 1 of the letters, re-sized them on my computer & printed them out in black & white.

The little poem (that I placed in the last frame) is a copy of the one I keep next to my own family photos.

So, because it was just perfect for this situation also, I re-typed it, inserting it into a text box in WORD on my computer,

added their family monogram at the top (using clip art) and finally, printed it.

I love this frame because it is SO useful.  It would be great near the door, for hanging pet leashes or back packs.

In Dad’s office, he could hang spare ties, an umbrella, etc.

Or, in Dad’s closet, it would be useful for belts or ties.

Total Gift Cost – $11.00

MORE IDEAS!  L-O-V-E worked perfectly for my project, but also consider other words or phrases

that might mean something special to the Dad in your life.

And if you can’t find a frame (like mine) on clearance, be sure to take your 40 or 50% off coupon with you to the craft store.

Dads who love to GARDEN

There are a ton of garden tools & accessories out there, so I went for 2 items that are “unexpected”!

My Mother’s Day Birthstone Garden gift idea is a very sentimental one and could be contained in a single pot;

so for Dad, I wanted to create something similar, but more of a …..

butterfly garden

Butterfly Garden!

Choose a pot with a neutral (masculine) color and fill it with organic soil and perennial,

flowering plants that specifically attract butterflies.

If possible, place it outside a window or door near Dad’s favorite chair so he’ll be nearby when all of the butterflies stop by!

Happy Father’s Day

to all of the Dads, Grand dads, Dads-to-Be and Dads of 4-legged family members….

I hope you enjoy your special day!
