FUN HOLIDAY DECORATING FACTS:
- HOW BIG IS THE SEASONAL HOME? It’s a small ranch-style home, apx. 1900 sf
- HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DECORATE? Normally 1-1/2 weeks. But this year, I decorated The Seasonal Home in only 5 days, fitting it in between training for a new full-time job, installing decor for a holiday client, family obligations & prepping for a charity fundraiser tour of The Seasonal Home that (Yay!) benefited a Non-Profit Children’s Hospital. All of that took place over a 2-week period… WHEW! I hope to slow that roll next year. 😉 LOL
- ARE ALL OF THE HOLIDAY VIDEOS ABOUT THE SAME? This year’s video is my longest ever… almost doubling previous year’s videos so I hope you enjoy the changes.
- WHO CREATES THE CHRISTMAS VIDEO? My videographer is a young man in his early 20’s. May I be the first to offer up a round of applause for his creativity & innovation (drone and time-lapse footage… what?!!!!) And may I also say that he is incredibly easy to work with, so please check out his info (located at the end of the video).
- HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FILM & EDIT? This year, we filmed it in 3 hours and it takes a couple of days to choose music & edit the video.
- DO YOU BUY LOTS OF NEW CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS EVERY YEAR? Not even CLOSE! If you’re a fan of The Seasonal Home, you’ve probably noticed that I recycle most of my holiday decor. What little I do purchase “new” is done so at 75-90% off in most cases. It helps to know what you’re doing the next year so you can look for post-Christmas bargains!
- DO I KEEP EVERYTHING? No way! Of course, I have my favorite treasures I could never part with, but my rules are that it all has to fit in one corner of my garage and for every new item, I donate 2 ore more items (to a local church) each year to make room for the few new items I do purchase. For instance, the vinyl ribbon (used outside the front door) is over 10 years old and has been used 3 times, the flocked tree is 9 years old, and is used almost every year.
- DO I REMOVE THE RIBBONS & DECORATIONS FROM THE GARLAND & TREES EVERY YEAR? Oh yes! I never repeat a design so it all is taken apart, dusted (with a blow dryer), wrapped carefully & placed in my little storage area. Have you figured it out that I’m a little hyper-active? LOL
- IS THERE ANY OTHER COST RELATED TO CREATING THE CHRISTMAS VIDEO? Oh yes… the cost to produce & edit the Christmas Video, including the purchase of royalty-free music, is almost $500. I budget for it all year long though because it’s my honor and legacy to inspire others. It makes me happy to know that some day, when I’m no longer here, my videos will continue to make people happy. The only compen$ation is minor – from YouTube views – so PLEASE share, share, share the video… my hubby thanks you too! 😉
